Follow-up with the vet

Butters and Dirty Birdie had their check-up yesterday at the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.  They both had their bumblefoot lesions removed again, but the vet said they look better and it will just take time for everyone to heal.  It was definitely worth the 2-hour drive.

They had a baby rhino last week and will have a bear in later this week for dental work. My step-daughter got a special tour; it was the student’s first day and she didn’t know where to go (construction in parts of the building)!  They let us back in the surgery room with 4 students to see Butters bandaged.  I heard Dirty Birdie and they said she probably wanted to be with Butters; I told them it was her “I have to lay an egg” call. Sure enough, she ran as fast as she could to the nest as soon as we got home.
